About Us

The GrantLee’s™ concept began in 1999 with the combination of Richard’s interest in the Civil War and his wife Vicki and daughter Danielle’s dream of owning a family restaurant. Richard’s tramp lineman background had the family living in various parts of the United States from Maine to Florida and many states in between. This helped create the concept by realizing the distinctive differences of Northern and Southern foods. The family also realized that many people today don’t really know an important part of history that our country went through.

After looking at a number of states from Tennessee to Florida, and with the large extended family here in the Farmington Maine area, it was decided to open the first GrantLee’s Tavern & Grill™ in this little Log Cabin. It also gave them an opportunity to highlight the 20th Maine Regiment and the important role it played in the “War between the States”. With the help of family and friends and the dedication and many days of hard work, their dream became a reality.

So in keeping a part of history alive, like when General Grant and General Lee met at Appomattox Court House in April 1865 to re-unite the country, we invite you to come to GrantLee’s 20th Maine Tavern & Grill™ and enjoy a true southern dish, a Yankee dish or perhaps a combination of the two. Because here at GrantLee’s™, it is the place where people come together.
